Welcome

If you haven't seen it already, our mission statement is the firm conviction that "We exist to live, share, and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for the glory of God and our abundant joy." It is important for you to know that is not based on our own intuition, intellect, or creation. At Calvary, we long to base everything we do on the Word of God, the Bible. So we take our queue from it in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (ESV), where Paul writes:

"Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you-unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures..."

While we have a rich 125 year history, we know that we have only begun to plumb the depths of the glories and riches of the Gospel, an adventure we are on together in community, as a family. Author Jerry Bridges writes, "The Gospel is not only the most important message in all of history; it is the only essential message in all of history. Yet we allow thousands of professing Christians to live their entire lives without clearly understanding it and experiencing the joy of living by it."

It is our heart's desire at Calvary to understand and experience the joy of living by the Gospel. We want the Gospel to be the center of our lives. We want the Gospel to be the main thing, that which we are most passionate about. We want to be like Paul - that it would be of first importance and that on which we stand.

Does that mean we are doing it perfectly? Of course not. We are a group of saved-by-grace sinners. We are not perfect. Like you, we are broken. We are great sinners. But we have and worship a great Savior!

It is our prayer as a church to be a place that treasures the Son of God, Jesus Christ, above all else. Furthermore, that this website and the ministries of Calvary would be a place where you could be introduced to him, deepen in your relationship with him, follow and obey him, and serve him and others for the glory of God and your abundant joy.

Weekly Memory Passage: Proverbs 3:5-7 (ESV)

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.
