Spiritual Disciplines: The Basics for Living a Christian Life

Overlook - Banner Size

How do you live as a Christian? Do the words spiritual disciplines make you cringe? The reality is that spiritual disciplines are not yet another burden to be placed on our already busy lives, but rather a gift of grace. While we have a part in cooperating with God in our spiritual growth, ultimately it is God's work in us. Dallas Willard reminds us, "Spiritual formation is the way of rest for the weary and overloaded, of the easy yoke and light burden."

Even if you don't feel particularly spiritual or disciplined, this class is for you. Come and learn from others in Calvary's family why spiritual disciplines are the means to a transformed life. We hope all adults will join us for this Adult Sunday School Class beginning on Sunday, September 7.

Proverbs 2:3-5
"... if you call out for insight
and raise your voice for understanding,
if you seek it like silver
and search for it as for hidden treasures,
then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God."

Weekly Memory Passage: Jeremiah 29:11-14a (ESV)

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me. When you seek me with all your heart, I will be found by you, declares the LORD."
